Do These Things to Help You Stay Calm in the Dental Chair

Do you wish there was a way to stay calm and comfortable in the dental chair? If so, our dentist, Dr. Theodore Gehrig, is happy to grant your wish! There are things you can do to relieve your dental anxiety and dental nerves. These things can help you have a more relaxing and positive experience at Lincoln Park Dental Associates. Those things are:

-Bring someone you trust with you to your appointment. This can help you feel more comfortable because they will be right by your side. If necessary, they can hold your hand, tell you stories to take your mind off treatment, and even “oversee” everything that is going on. That way they can make sure you will be safe during your appointment. (Of course, you will be safe no matter what. But having a trusted family member or friend telling you that might make you feel better.)

-Bring a distraction. This can be anything that keeps your mind off the treatment, like music, TV shows, podcasts, audio books, and more. Just put your headphones in your ears and enjoy while we treat your smile!

-Try relaxation techniques. Breathing exercises can help you slow your heart rate and feel more relaxed. This can help you ease the tension you feel at our office.
